meet the team
A native of South Carolina, Melissa followed a love for art and creative endeavors to Clemson University, where she earned a degree in design. Following graduation, she gained her architectural license while working in the field for the next decade. Her strong interest of interiors led her to add interior design to her repertoire. She spent the next 10 years working at several significant interior design firms before she founded Melissa Ervin Interior Design in 2008. A registered architect and NCIDQ certified designer, her background in both architecture and design proves to be a great asset in establishing the bones of a space on which to build interiors.
Melissa resides in Mount Pleasant with her husband and two children.
Associate Designer Kimberly Keathley joined the firm in 2017 but has worked in Charleston's competitive design domain since 2007. She spent several years with a high-end residential architecture firm before shifting her focus to interior design. Kimberly holds a bachelor's degree in Architecture from Clemson University, and possesses the technical skills required in the construction field, coupled with a passion for creating spaces that speak to a client's personal style.
Kimberly and her husband reside on James Island.
Associate Designer Larissa Sablotny's passion for design led her to Illinois State University where she earned a BS in Interior and Environmental Design with a minor in Construction Management. After graduation, she started her career with a design firm specializing in both commercial and educational projects. Upon moving to Charleston in 2015, she made the switch to high-end residential interiors.
A James Island resident, Larissa joined the team at Melissa Ervin Interior Design in 2018.
With over 30 years of experience in administration, customer service and project management, Office Manager MaryEllen “Mel” MacKinnon joined us in Spring 2015. Her responsibilities encompass many aspects of the day-to-day operations including accounting and managing small client projects.
Originally from the Northeast, Mel relocated to the Lowcountry 10 years ago to be closer to family. Away from work, she enjoys travel and charitable projects.
